A New York slice lifted from the pie in a long stretch of melted cheese

Edmonton · since 1974 · est. 1964

Edmonton's original New York style thin crust pizza, served since 1974.

Five decades of hand-tossed pies from a family that learned the craft in Italy and brought it through New York.

Our roots

From a kitchen in Italy to 111 Avenue.

Tony Mazzotta Sr. learned to cook in Cosenza, Italy, then came to Edmonton in 1959 and worked the line at the Hotel Macdonald. He always wanted his own room.

He found it in New York. In 1964 he opened the first Tony's Pizza Palace in the Bronx, and in 1974 he brought that New York pizza home to Edmonton.

Fifty years on, the family still runs it. Same dough, same sauce, same long proof that gives the crust its snap and its char.

Three cities. One recipe. Still by hand.

Signature Pies

Classic New York

The 16-inch that built the room. Mozzarella and Tony's special spices over our marinated sauce — thin, blistered, foldable.

We had dinner at Tony’s and all entrees that our family ordered (Sal’s deluxe, lasagna and the Alfredo) were excellent. The service was stellar and the atmosphere was perfect.…

Great pizza. Imo their style is a cross between American and authentic Italian/Neapolitan. Dough holds up well, crispy crust. Great selection of toppings including feta, capicollo and anchovies. I'll definitely order again.
